Poker Faction

Hi everyone. I have 2 new features that i absolutely love. The first one is AJAX boxes aka hideable boxes on the left and right side. You can click on the title of any box on the left or right to hide it(exceppt for ads). This makes for a cleaner more custom interface allowing you to see only the boxes that you want. This will also allow us to ad more boxes with diffrent functionality without over cluttering the site.

The second new awesome feature is now if you write into any box on a page and try to navigate away from it (back button or click a link) It will ask you to confirm. For anybody that has ever lost a long blog or forum post to an accidental click this feature is amazing.

There has been many upgrades of modules. Most of which shouldnt have made any major changes in features, however keep an eye out for bugs on the site in general and report them.

The new feature that is now semi functional is the points and level system. With it doing diffrent things on the site will give you points that in turn give you levels which will be displayed on your forum posts so that you can lord your awesome pokerfaction status over the lower levels. :-D. Im trying to bring the crack like effect of wanting to level from MMO's to pokerfaction.com. Points have been granted retroactively so all your old posts will count toward your current scores. The score you have today are not 100%final you may still be a little low because i have to count the old posts myself.

here are the ways to get points for the moment

2 points for a new forum topic
1 point for a comment on anything
1 point for replying to a thread in the forums
5 points for a blog entry
50 points for a poker article
50 points for a poker video

As you can see the scales are heavily tipped in the favor of content contributers because we hope to someday be a comunity content driven site.

The details as far as how the levels are going to work are not yet decided, once the level system is in place we will have a level requirement for having a blog, having access to ventrilo, and becoming a moderator. Mind you all those still going to be at our discretion. this will be a good way to keep access to these features limited to people who wont abuse them.

This being said I am cutting all the blogs who will not meet the level requirement now. Im sorry guys. We just want to keep the site professional. People who currently have ventrilo access will not be removed.

Edit: I forgot to mention that moderators will have access to give point or take points away at will. They will be encouraged to give give points to great posts and remove them if someone is being a tool.

Hello everyone I just wanted to let you know that the private messaging have been activated on the the live site now. Please play around with it and give me some feedback. I have also modified the theme a little to remove the box at the bottom of every post on the front page that said the numbers of times something was read. This makes the boxes look nicer.

The site will be down for 30 minutes at 11 PM EST. The site's theme will be updated to the one that is currently on PF2 beta as well as the new form look. please note that this is not the final theme and we are already working on fixing the color scheme and the header.

Hello pokerfaction users. I have decided to start implementing some of the changes from pokerfaction 2.0 gradually instead of going for one big swift release. This will allow me to test all the parts more thoroughly while giving users some of the benefits of the 2.0 early.

This means there will be some scheduled down time in the coming weeks. When I put a new feature into place, I will post about it on the front page. Please give me feedback and play around with the new features. Report any bugs, feature requests, ideas, or anything else to the new temporary forum I created for pf2 related things.
